The poetry of the earth is never dead. Ever! Nature holds the ultimate key to beauty. Don’t you think? And capturing its beauty is our greatest pleasure. I, for one, find it the most refreshing medicine to my mind. So, in this blog, we’re going to learn nature photography.
What Is Nature Photography?
When it comes to nature photography, there are so many things to take photos of! Trees, flowers, birds, leaves, animals, streams, insects even! Oh, stars, and the Moon and the Sun are involved too.
Everyone says that photography is an art. But what’s the best part is? It’s nature. Because nature is really the best art. Even if you do nature black and white photography or just simple nature landscape photography, it will never turn out bad. Besides if you truly love nature, you’ll find beauty everywhere.
So, I guess you know nature photography by now? The photographers who spend night and day and almost everything in their lives to capture nature, they’re doing nature photography. Nature changes its color and appearance from time to time. So, fall photography, winter photography, summer photography falls under nature photography.
You Can Start From Your Garden In The Backyard:
Oh well, I think we’ve had a nice hearty discussion about nature photography. Now we’ll talk about some nature photography tips that you can use while you go for the natural photoshoot.
Flowers And Butterfly:
I bet there are always some flowers glowing and spreading beauty in your backyard garden? Why don’t you start your very first nature photography from there?
It’s really important to know that the best time to capture the flowers is during the early morning or at night. The flowers are more visible at night because of the low light.
The best time to capture the best butterfly photographs is when it’s flying above the trees. The reason behind this is that the light is very strong at that time. You don’t have to worry about the light in those conditions.
Don’t Miss The New Rainfall Of The Year:
If you have a new rainfall, it’s a great time for nature photography. Also, you’ll be able to see all kinds of animals and birds come out of their hideouts to enjoy the rain. Also, cloudy weather is always a good choice for nature photography. You’ll have a great view of the sky and clouds as they move across the sky.
After The Flowers, Fruits And Seeds Comes:
When you’re going for nature photography with fruits, berries, and seed pods, look for a location that has a lot of plants around. You’ll be able to take some great photos of these plants when the sunlight shines on them.
Look For Mushrooms And Fungi:
Fungi are very interesting things. They grow on trees, rocks, and on the ground. Mushrooms, toadstools, and other fungi have a unique look. They have different shapes and sizes. So try to find them while they’re in season. Then, they’ll have a great look and feel.
Use Water Source:
The water is a great subject for nature photography. You’ll be able to take many kinds of shots like reflections, underwater photography, and so on. In fact, you’ll be able to capture the water in many different ways.
Trees Are Beautiful As Always:
The trees in nature are so beautiful and they always have something to offer. The photographer can use trees for many kinds of photography. If the trees are large enough, you’ll be able to take a great landscape photo. You can use the trees to make a composition or you can just focus on one tree. It’s your choice!
Go Black And White:
Nature photography is all about capturing beauty in its purest form. So, nature black and white photography is the best way to show this beauty. It’s the most common method to capture the beauty of nature. It has an otherworldly feel to it.
Low Light Is The Key:
If you’re trying to take photos of animals and plants, then you should be shooting in low light. The animals are more likely to be active in the dark. It’s best to shoot in the early morning or late afternoon when there’s still light but not too much.
Most of the time, we’re able to get natural light when we’re taking nature photography. But if you’re in a place where you don’t have natural light, you can still take good photos. You can use a flash, a strobe light, or even a light tent to give you the needed light for your photo.
You Can Set Up Camera Traps:
You’ll get some really great shots if you set up a camera trap in your garden. All you need to do is to put up a hidden camera near some food or flowers. When animals visit your garden, the camera will capture a photo of them. If you put up a camera trap near a pond, you’ll have many interesting pictures of fish, frogs, and insects. So you can try to set a camera trap.
Shoot The Night Sky:
Nature photography at night is one of my favorite things to do. It’s a perfect time to photograph the stars and the Moon. The light from the Moon can be really beautiful. If you want to take night photography, it’s best to use a tripod and a long lens. You’ll be able to capture the beauty of the Moon and the stars. So, don’t forget to shoot to at night sky.
Play With Sun Haze And Flare:
You can use sun haze and sun flare to your advantage. If you shoot the sun when the sun is low, then you’ll get sun haze. In this case, you’ll have an interesting photo of the sun on the horizon. When the sun is high in the sky, you’ll get sun flare. You can use it to your advantage by making the sun into a silhouette. Because it will make the image look very dramatic.
A Wide Angle Lens:
You can get some nice images with a wide-angle lens. Because if you choose to use a wide-angle lens, then you can take a photo of the whole scene. The best time for using a wide-angle lens is when you’re taking photos of animals and birds. When the animals and birds are far away from you, you can capture them in a very big space.
You’ll be able to see the whole view from the distance that you’ve been able to capture. Also, using a wide-angle lens is a great way to capture the landscape. So, the next time you go out for a nature photography trip, try using a wide-angle lens.
Take Photos After The Rain:
If the rain has stopped, you can get some amazing photos after the rain. The water drops on the trees and plants will look so beautiful in your pictures. Also, if the rain has stopped, you can see the dew on the grass or flowers. Because the dew reflects the light coming from the Sun and this makes the photo looks so interesting.
You can capture many rainbow photos. If the rain has stopped, you can take a photo of the rainbow. But don’t forget to use a filter that makes the rainbow look brighter! Because it will look way interesting.
Why not? Because it will turn out a magical one. If you have the right time, you can see the fireflies in the night. Fireflies don’t have a bright light; they emit light by vibrating the air. The fireflies emit red light and it looks like the light of the Sun. You can capture amazing photos of fireflies.
Do You Have Snails or Bugs In Your Garden?
Butterflies and fireflies aside, have you tried capturing snails? Because if you haven’t, go for it. Don’t forget about these creatures. They can make your nature photography session interesting and fun. Just watch for their movements, they’re very interesting to photograph! Although you have to do macro photography here.
